Sewer Problems? Call MSD First!

MSDWhen a MSD customer has sewer problems, the resident should first contact the MSD.  MSD will dispatch a crew to check the main sewer.  If there is a cleanout at the public right-of-way,  MSD will also inspect the cleanout to determine the location of the blockage in the service line.  MSD will clean the stoppage if it is in the main MSD sewer line or the portion of the service line in the public right of way.   If the stoppage is in the private property section of the service line,  District personnel will notify the owner and advise if a plumber should be called.

Don’t suffer during the dry months. Here’s how to put the moisture back into your home, and your body:

humidifierDuring these dry months of winter consider using a humidifier. Running a humidifier in your home/office will add moisture to dry, heated air. The moistened air will help keep your skin, mouth, and nose hydrated, and helps prevent those nasty static shocks. Ideally, aim for a comfortable winter humidity level of between 30% and 50%. Don’t turn up the humidifier higher than that, though, or you could develop another problem — mold, fungi, dust mites, and other tiny critters. Also keep your humidifier clean so that it doesn’t send dust and germs discharging into your house.

Understanding Water Damage

If you have experienced some sort of water intrusion in your home or office, it is critical that you begin the clean up process as quickly as possible.  Water damage can be deceptive. Water penetrates into structural cavities creating trapped pockets of saturation.

The detection of water in these areas can often only be discovered with sophisticated

moisture detection meters and thermography.

Undetected moisture will continue to cause damage.

This damage, at a minimum, will cause odors. Greater damage will surface when materials delaminate, shrink, split and further deteriorate to where costly repairs are required.

More than just removing excess water, cleantrust-certified restorers have the knowledge and equipment to further dry a home or facility (including substructure materials) completely back to pre-loss conditions. Through timely response and the careful monitoring of water damage, mold and other health issues can be prevented. If water damage has been present too long, mold will occur.

Don’t delay!

All IICRC-certified professionals have the training and experience to identify moisture sources, evaluate mold growth (visible or suspected), contain damage, remove contamination and dry materials to ensure that mold will not return.¹

1-800 Water Damage employs certified professionals, ensuring your peace of mind.

Call for a free inspection!  We work with all insurance companies, homeowners and business’s, commercial and industrial.

Quick Tips For Fall Home Maintenance

1. Clean out the gutters

This fall be sure to inspect and clean your gutters free from any leaves, twigs and other foliage a few times throughout the season.  Clogged gutters combined with heavy rains can result in costly water damage

2.Check for indoor air leaks

Prevent heat or cooled air from escaping your home this season.  Seal drafty windows, doors and walls.  Install caulk or weatherstripping to any areas that air can escape.  Taking care of the drafty windows and doors can save you up to 10% on your heating and cooling bills.

3. Get your heating system inspected

There’s nothing worse than turning on your heat and it not perform as you had expected.  Have your heating system inspected today, have peace of mind, save time and money while the weather is still mild.

4. Change out furnace filters

Changing or cleaning your filters regularly will help you increase the efficiency and life expectancy of your furnace while helping you save money on energy costs.

5. Ensure proper insulation and/or add additional

Warm air rises, so most of your home’s heat loss is through the roof. Add an extra blanket of insulation on top of your existing layer.  The added insulation can only help save you on your energy costs all year long.
